Well Pet Check-ups and Vaccines – Preventative medicine is a passion of ours at Pecan Grove. It is recommended to perform an annual exam along with vaccinations. There are many diseases and conditions that can be prevented by staying current on wellness exams to identify existing problems before they begin to compound. If you have questions regarding what vaccines your pet should get or when please call our office during business hours, and we would be more than happy to help!

Sick pet examination – We understand a sick pet can be a terrifying experience for you and your family. Our facility offers in-house lab work, radiography, and an interest in internal medicine to help diagnose and treat your pets as quickly as possible. If your pet requires a specialist, we have many referral centers that can help your pet if we don’t have the equipment to.

Microchipping – Microchipping your pet is the fastest and easiest way people can identify your pet and get it home to you safely in the event they are lost. We offer microchipping through the company PetLink, and it is free to register your pet. In the event your pet is lost and a kennel, shelter, or rescue takes them in, it will notify them of the owner’s name, number, and address to contact them about returning the pet home. This procedure can be done at a regular wellness appointment or paired with a spay/neuter.

Dental Care – Just like humans, your pet’s teeth will get tartar and calculus build up over time. Many breeds and some bloodlines are more prone to dental disease than others and may require cleaning more often than other pets. Our dental services include a thorough exam, cleaning, polishing, and surgery as needed to remove teeth or repair anatomical complications. It is important to note that our dental services are not only about ensuring the health of the teeth but also of the soft tissue structures of the mouth. Some patients will have overgrown gingiva, tooth root exposure leading to gum/bone infection, and tumors.
The dental exam evaluates all these things. In some cases dental radiographs (X-rays) are required to see the extent of the tooth root or bone disease associated with dental disease. We currently do not have the ability to perform dental radiographs, and those cases will be referred.

Digital radiography – Digital radiography, or digital X-ray, is a step forward from conventional radiography because it creates a digital image that is instantly available to view. It can also be enhanced and modified to improve image quality even under adverse conditions. Radiographs are used often in small animal medicine for assessing bone, joints, thoracic disease/abnormalities, abdominal disease/abnormalities, soft tissue injuries, and more. Digital radiography also allows easy access to sharing the image for owner records and for challenging cases where a second opinion is needed.
In-house Lab – A full in-house laboratory is available for quick answers to urgent health concerns of your pet and for wellness exam bloodwork. Please note some tests still require being sent to an outside lab. Our clinic has the ability to run general medicine bloodwork and diagnostic tests such as a CBC, Chemistry, blood smears, heartworm tests, cytology samples, packed cell counts, and total protein in the blood.

General Surgery – We have a top-notch surgery suite equipped with the most up-to-date anesthesia machine and monitoring system to ensure the safety of your pets. Each animal is placed under general anesthesia and monitored by a technician while your veterinarian performs surgical procedures. While no surgery comes without risks, we have invested in the best preventative and monitoring equipment to minimize those risks. Common surgeries performed by our clinic include spays, neuters, C-sections, mass removals, primary wound closure, and limb amputations. All other surgical procedures are performed on a case-by-case basis.
